Russia is a beautiful country. It has everything other countries wish for: vast spaces, stunning landscapes, beautiful forests, crystal clear waters, all imaginary resources from aluminum to zinc, gold, silver, oil, gas.... Yet the country has suffered extreme devastation, not only during both world wars but also throughout modern times. Communist ideology and planned economy pulled it down the history drain more than once. It seems that the Moloch of history has opened its hungry mouth once again, ready to drain Russia of what is left.
So... what is wrong with Mother Russia?
More after the jump...
Just one thing: people.
Russian people are by far the most psychologically damaged creatures that can be found on the face of the earth (besides North Koreans, Afghans and Chinese, of course). Cubans are lucky, at least they have a beautiful turquoise ocean and a year-round supply of vitamin D, the best antidepressant one can find. Russians don't even have that. Imprisoned by their history, devoid of seafood and other essential nutrients, stuck with their dark and gloomy winters, Russians are depressive and self-destructing yet they are yearning for recognition. The general feeling among Russians, "Yes, we are wild, aggressive, and crazy, but you have to love us for who we are."
I have news for those who still did not figure this out: not everybody can love a mad dog that occasionally bites.
So to answer the original questions "what is wrong with Russia", we should start by asking the following, "What is wrong with Russian people"?
